While we’re all digesting the barbaric bombings in London, and waiting for more information on which to base analysis, I thought I’d share one of the stranger spam emails I’ve received lately.

his ‘super I’.After growing up,Hitler used his fathers ideas to mould
his political career.He treated the German people and individuals the
same way his father raised him.Hitler treated his nation,public and other
individuals as his father once treated him.That is to say, the
nation,public and other individuals take the place of the young Hitler and
become the object of the ‘super I’ of Hitler.

Trolling student, or a more complex scam than usual?

A while back, there was a scam making the rounds on academic listservs in which Indonesian “students” were asking for free textbooks. At least the consensus was that it was a scam… but what, exactly, the perpetrators hoped to get from it I was never sure.
