Sibel Oktay is associate professor of political science at the University of Illinois—Springfield and a nonresident senior fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Her research investigates the domestic politics of foreign and security policy in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East with a focus on institutions, public opinion, and leaders. Her publications appear in the Journal of European Public Policy, European Journal of Political Research, and European Security, among others. She is the author of Governing Abroad: Coalition Politics and Foreign Policy in Europe (University of Michigan Press, 2022). Her ongoing projects focus on mass and elite attitudes toward alliances. Sibel is a 2023-2024 recipient of the Jefferson Science Fellowship from the U.S. Department of State.
